news & other bits

Also known as the place I write words.

We are very pleased to announce our latest (and dare we say best?) project to date… Miss Elina Rae. Welcome to the butter family, dear one.

Remember the holidays? Barely? We’ve been busy bees and neglected to wish everyone our very best for 2013. We predict big, exciting things! Here’s a little sneak peak from our holiday card for 2012. The terrier, as always, steals the show.

Camp style is cropping up everywhere these days. The July issue of Martha Stewart Living magazine features a lovely spread about a repurposed summer camp in Wisconsin, the latest Town and Country magazine is an ode to summer camp nostalgia and Wes Anderson’s latest movie Moonrise Kingdom is a charming nod to that most american tradition, scouting. I certainly have a lanyard or two tucked away in a drawer. Anyone else excited for s’mores this summer?

Friends, Butter is excited to be collaborating yet again with the lovely folks at 3rdThird. Together we are refreshing the brand standards for Affinity Living Group. A series of flexible, expandable templates are currently in the works to help Affinity market their various properties. Microsite and brochure to be posted here soon.

This ad made us smile. An irreverent approach to an unusual product. We’ll be curious to know if the viral exposure translates into marketshare. Are we the only ones that think it would be incredibly fun to blow benjamins around the office with a leaf blower?

 Thriving in a conversation economy

Friends, I am thinking about attending this year’s Market Mix conference. I confess to being event-shy in the past. Too many bodies in one place? Um, YES. I am however, interested in brand conversations–both as a consumer of brands and a designer for brands. What makes you trust a brand? Do you feel like your relationships with the brands you buy are a result of a two-way conversation?

We are closing shop for the holidays. As usual, topping the terrier’s list of activities will be sleeping by the fire and chewing on ribbon-wrapped parcels when no one is looking. We will return in January rested and inspired. Be good.

The terrier would like you to make that logo bigger.

She’s not trying to tell you how to do your job, but…
